Description

Stems of several dainty bell-like violet-blue flowers can form carpets of colour in naturalistic settings.

The Siberian squill bears several star-shaped flowers per stem and usually more than one stem per bulb, over mid-green strap-shaped leaves. It originates from Russia and Caucasus and therefore is a tough character. Useful for naturalising in grass or under deciduous shrubs.

Care: plant in autumn at a depth of about 10 cm – one and a half to two times the diameter of the bulb. Plant in bold drifts by scattering bulbs by hand and planting where they fall. S. siberica will self-seed and produce good drifts of colour.
