A superbly-coloured daffodil
A newer, stunning apricot-yellow orange short-cupped narcissus with a red cup.
This daffodil, although unusual, has really grown on us in the past two years and now we have it in our hot border with wallflowers in spring.
Light: full sun to partial shade
Soil: well-drained sand, clay, loam, chalk
Type: Division 3 short-cupped daffodils
Bulb size: 12/14cm
Altruist best keeps its apricot colour in dappled shade. It can be used for naturalising and looks good with complimentary triumph tulips.
Altruist performed well in our 2016 spring trials. The flowers were long-lasting and well coloured.
Care: plant in autumn at a depth of one and a half to two time the diameter of the bulb. Add grit to heavy or wet soils.
