Beautiful colours and non-spreading
M. latifolium has stunning flowers of a deep purple-blue topped with a soft lavender to blue-violet crown which gets lighter with age. This is a well-behaved muscari with broader, tidier leaves than M. armenicum varieties.
Month: March -April
Light: full sun, partial shade
Soil: well drained, moderately fertile
Good for naturalising, M. latifolium looks fantastic in bold drifts, however it will not spread far on its own. Or plant it in pots with miniature daffodils such as Tête à Tête or Canaliculatus. Our favourite muscari! We have it drifting with Bowles’s Golden Grass.
Care: plant 10cm deep in autumn. Lift and divide when dormant in summer.
