The summer snowflake
The summer snowflake is a bit of a misnomer, it flowers in late spring rather than summer but is lovely all the same.
Light: full sun, partial shade
Soil: well-drained, moisture-retentive but not wet.
Spring and summer snowflakes naturalise beautifully in the garden without becoming invasive. They can be left for years, producing more and more flowers. Leaves will often appear over winter.
Care: Plant in autumn in well-drained, moisture-retentive soil about 10cm deep. Leucojum aestivum likes to be damp during the growing season.
