Gladiolus comminus subsp. byzantinus
A wine-pink hardy gladiolus
A bold pink-wine, richly coloured and hardy gladiolus.
This is a really useful, early flowering gladiolus. We tried it last year and also found many corms already stocking the garden at Poppy Cottage. It is such a lovely shot of colour early in the season that we will be adding some more.
Month: May – June
Light: full sun, partial shade
Bulb size: 6cm+
Care: Plant in autumn 5-10cm deep in well-drained soil. Add grit to heavy or wet soils. May need a little staking in windy areas because it is early flowering but it is not a tall form.
