Excellent early flowers for the bees
Creamy yellow flowers in a similar form to crown imperials, F. raddeana is shorter and less formal. A beautiful flower for a mixed spring border.
We grew this in 2018 and found it flowered much earlier than other fritillaries. We are planting a larger number for 2019! The early flowers are super for early bees.
Month: March / April
Light: full sun, partial shade
Bulb size: 18cm+
F. raddeana produces its roots in the autumn and then grows quickly in the spring. They will need some shelter from the wind as they are early flowers but are very cold-hardy.
Care: Plant in autumn 15-20cm deep in well-drained soil. Needs a dry summer rest. Plant on arrival if possible.
