Anemone nemorosa Alba
The wild, white wood anemone
Lovely wild wood anemone. We have chosen these dainty white flowers for their ability to sparkle in shady areas in the spring. They can start flowering quite early and span the period from snowdrops to bluebells.
Light: partial shade
Soil: well-drained, humus-rich, fertile
Ideal for naturalising.
Care: Plant in autumn in well-drained, fertile, moisture-retentive soil at 3 – 5cm deep and 10cm apart. Add grit to heavy soils. It is usually best to soak them in cold water for a few hours before planting. Anemone nemorosa like woodland conditions, so while they are growing and flowering they like good access to sunshine, but once dormant in summer they do not like excessive heat. If grown in a pot, move to a shady place during the summer.
